GAINESVILLE — Two members of the Florida Gators and one Missouri player were ejected from Saturday night’s game after a scuffle just before halftime that ended with Dan Mullen waving his arms to frenzied fans on his way to the locker room — twice.

The friction appeared to start when UF quarterback Kyle Trask took a high, late hit from Missouri defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat on the final, untimed play of the half. That seemed to set off Mullen, who ran onto the field. Both teams converged on each other in a mess of shoves and punches.

The sides eventually separated, but even then it wasn’t done. Mullen stayed behind and at one point had to be held back by his staff.

Starting defensive lineman Zachary Carter (Hillsborough High) and freshman linebacker Antwuan Powell were thrown out for UF, as was Missouri outside linebacker Tre Williams.

When Mullen went to the locker room, the Gators' socially distanced crowd erupted. Mullen waved his arms in the air to pump them up as he entered the tunnel … and went back out to pump them up even more.

The crowd was still going crazy when he returned after the break. They chanted “DAN MULL-EN” as he and the Gators retook the field.
